Cas Comte hosts the presentation of the book ‘Noms propis (femení, plural)’ by Gabriel Julià

The occasion was special, and the setting had to be too. The renowned Menorcan divulgist Gabriel Julià presented the book Noms propis (femení, plural). A work that gathers the biographies of thirty-seven women who have been important in Menorca’s cultural scene and have left their mark. Especially in the fields of music and the visual arts. Despite their relevance and the significance of their work, they are women who until now have been little known and, even less, named. A reality that Professor Gabriel Julià seeks to transform with his publication.

For this reason, the venue for showcasing such a symbolic and, in a way, groundbreaking work is no coincidence. The Fundación José María de Olives y de Ponsich, Conde de Torre-saura opened the doors of Cas Comte to host one of the most inspiring events of the start of the year, which was attended by more than a hundred people.

In fact, in his presentation, Professor Gabriel Julià acknowledged the beauty of the place and thanked the Foundation for allowing him to share the details and anecdotes of his book with a large audience. Thus, in the Honor Hall of Cas Comte, he explained how curiosity drove him to get to know and research some of Menorca’s most prominent female figures and how proud he was to be able to contribute to the dissemination of their work.

He was accompanied by journalists from El Iris, local journal that published the edition. Silve Pons hosted the event and Miriam Triay gave the introduction. The cherry on top was the performance by the Cadenza Choir. Composed exclusively of women and directed by Cristina Álvarez, it captivated the attendees with a short repertoire that provided a fitting end to the evening.
