From June 30 to October 27, 2022, every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, the company Talaia Cultura SL offers the opportunity to discover one of the most interesting and emblematic buildings of Menorcan architecture, and the historical and cultural legacy of the County of Torre-saura.
Considered by Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria in his Die Balearen as the most beautiful mansion in Menorca, the Cas Comte palace summarizes and reflects the chronicle of the main events that took place in Ciutadella during the 19th and 20th centuries.
The proposal made by the Fundación José María de Olives y de Ponsich, Conde de Torre-saura, offers the opportunity to contemplate and admire various art collections of undoubted value that today decorate the rooms of the palace. Through these collections, and thanks to the detailed explanations provided by the tour guide, we can learn about the history of one of Menorca’s most prominent families, a history that is inevitably linked to the events that took place during a particularly difficult period for Spain and for the city.
Every week, guided tours in Catalan and Spanish are held on Mondays and Thursdays at 8 pm.
On Wednesdays at 11 am, a third guided tour is scheduled in English and French.
The tour lasts approximately 2 hours.
The Foundation also continues to work on the restoration of the building, a project that aims to consolidate the unique architectural values and characteristics of the property. It has also launched an ambitious program to restore and preserve numerous valuable paintings and works of art in general, as well as furniture and ornamental and ethnological objects. Finally, it is worth highlighting the project to organize the county’s historical archive, a project that the Torre-saura Foundation began in early 2021 and which, to date, has managed to recover and conserve more than 35.000 documents, some of which date back to the 15th century.
