Ciutadella welcomed a large delegation representing Valencia’s Fallas community on Sunday, 20 September. The delegation was headed by Carmen Prades, the Fallera Mayor of Valencia, and her Court of Honour, and included the 73 candidates for Fallera Mayor de Valencia 2027, members of the judging panels and representatives of the Junta Central Fallera.

Organised with the support of the shipping company Trasmed, the visit gave the delegation an opportunity to discover some of Ciutadella’s most significant heritage sites, traditions and gastronomic offerings. The central event of the day took place in the main hall of Torre-saura Palace, where Ciutadella Town Council hosted an official reception for the Valencian delegation. The historic main hall of the former comital residence provided the setting for the gathering, which was attended by local authorities and featured addresses by the officials present, as well as by Valencia’s current Fallera Mayor.

The Fundación José María de Olives y de Ponsich, Conde de Torre-saura, which hosted the event, was represented by the institution’s Vice-President, Mr Guillermo de Olives. The Foundation’s collaboration with Ciutadella Town Council made the event possible, opening one of the city’s most emblematic heritage spaces to the visiting delegation.

The programme continued with a range of activities designed to introduce the visitors to Ciutadella’s history and traditions. The gathering provided an opportunity to further strengthen the cultural ties between Valencia and Menorca.
